March on, salvation soldiers
This song, entitled 'The Day of Victory's coming', was published in The Musical Salvationist, March 1892, an issue headed 'Old Favourites'. The words and music were said to be'by the late Capt. J. C. Bateman'. (Later, in the Bandsman and,Songster,3 July 1937, the song was attributed to Mark Sanders.)The third and fifth verses of this version have now been omitted. Earlier, the chorus appeared anonymously In Salvation Songster's Songs, Part 2, 1884, with other verses beginning: 'A War is fiercely raging'.
